A BIG THANK YOU to all, including club members, the volunteers and players, donors and sponsors, and everyone else who supported our successful 2014 August fair/rodeo horseshoe tournament.
For Saturday's “Singles Play” there were 128 official games played in six different classes with 5,860 shoes thrown of which 1,051 were ringers.
2014 Singles Winners were:
Mixed A - Fred Broska from Ponoka. 2nd - Tammy Christensen from Regina. 3rd - Myrna Kissick from Innisfail.
Mixed B - Paul Degagne from Red Deer. 2nd - Noel Peterson from Ponoka. 3rd - Ray Prevost from High Prairie.
Mixed C - Cindy Ekkel from Wetaskiwin. 2nd - George Beutler from Leduc. 3rd - Hazel Heistad from Lacombe.
Mixed D - Stuart Little from Innisfail. 2nd - Con Taks from Innisfail. 3rd - Clarence Hoffman from Wetaskiwin.
Mixed E - Esther Hoerle from Innisfail. 2nd - Elaine Sanderman from Bowden. 3rd - Harry Ekkel from Wetaskiwin.
Juniors - Brayden Christensen from Regina. 2nd - Troy Mantai from Wetaskiwin. 3rd - Jase Nelson from Innisfail.
There were seven teams in one big grouping for “Doubles Play" on Sunday with all teams paid back something thanks to our generous donors and sponsors.
2014 Doubles Winners were:
1st - Tammy Christensen from Regina and playing partner Clarence Sanderman from Bowden.
2nd - Kay Born from Red Deer and Harry Ekkel from Wetaskiwin.
3rd - Winnona Kilbourn from Red Deer and Elaine Sanderman from Bowden.
4th - Hazel Heistad from Lacombe / Logan Mehls from Bentley / Garrett Christensen from Regina.
The 2014 recipient of the Allan Boettger Memorial V.I.P. Award, started in 2011, was Harry Ekkel from Wetaskiwin.
The 50/50 draw winner was Len Tabler from Calahoo.
Plans are to hold our 2015 tournament on August 8, 9 with the fair/rodeo and Bentley's centennial celebrations. We may do something special for Bentley's 100th anniversary next year, so bring along the oldest horseshoes you can find.
